A couple weekends ago, my friends & I travelled to New York City for one of the girls bachelorettes. We were trying to find activities to do while we were there, especially to celebrate the bride-to-be. We stumbled upon Premier57 and thought it would be the perfect treat for all of us! Premier57 is a luxury spa that has uniquely themed saunas, hot tubs, aqua-therapy pools, a cafe, and multiple Purified Oxygen dispensers throughout the facility to distribute filtered oxygen-enriched air.
We actually found a Groupon online to access the facilities, and didn’t book any services on the side. However, if you are looking for a massage or Korean body scrub, you can definitely book these as well! It would be a perfect addition to get a massage or scrub and then use their hot tubs and saunas for the ultimate relaxation day.
With general admission ($75 USD), you get unlimited access to Premier57’s indoor and rooftop hydrotherapy pools, six saunas, sleeping room, meditation room, water lounges, steam sauna, and dry sauna. There was honestly so much to do, even for our group of 5. We started off going to their hydrotherapy pools which are equipped with aqua-jet nozzles that target specific areas of the body. These nozzles are activated by blue touch dials and automatically shut off. This form of hydrotherapy is said to help numerous health improvements such as physical discomfort, weight loss, headaches, stress, respiratory issues, and diabetes.
Premier57’s rooftop has 5 different hydrotherapy pools, all different temperatures. Me & my girlfriends enjoyed our time out here, soaking in the sun while relaxing in the pools! We did turn on some of the jets, but they are VERY strong, so if you’re not used to it, you will surely be in for a surprise. The views on the rooftop are unlike anything I ever experienced. When thinking of a spa, you’d imagine beach or nature views, but here you’ll see the city in all it’s glory. Surrounded by buildings, and overlooking E 57th St & Park Ave – it was actually nice to see, especially as a visitor to the big city.
Premier57 also has a bar where you can get some drinks to sip on while relaxing in the hydrotherapy pools and hot tubs. Their drinks are on the pricey side, especially with the already high price of admission… BUT if you don’t come here regularly, it might be nice to treat yourself! My friend got a glass of wine, and they were very generous with her portion size.
Premier57 also has a bistro on site where you can get paninis, sandwiches, waffles, coffee, smoothies, and more. They also have a kitchen where you can get Korean cuisine, and burgers and fries. I wish I hadn’t eaten before coming because their Korean dishes looked and smelled AMAZING!
After an hour or so in the hydrotherapy pools, off we were to Premier57’s Sauna Valley. There are 6 different sauna rooms for everyone to enjoy – all with different temperatures and benefits. These are great for detoxifying, respiratory issues, weight loss, and physical discomfort.
Gold Sauna Room – gold was once believed to help with medicinal healing and beauty powers. Some believe that it reduces dependency on alcohol, caffeine, nicotine and carbohydrates. Gold is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.
Loess Soil Sauna Room – this sauna has the soothing aroma of the yellow clay and hand painted walls. The infrared rays emitted from the Loess clay help blood circulation and metabolism, as well as relieve headaches, arthritis, liver ailment and even obesity.
Himalayan Salt Sauna Room – Salt is a natural ionizer and creates a fresh, clean, bacteria -free environment. This himalayan salt room helps regulate water and blood pressure throughout the body. Calcium, sodium, magnesium, carbon, and manganese found in the blocks of salt help relieve allergies and asthma, soften and clear the skin, and reduce signs of aging.
Far-Infrared Sauna Room – Heaters convert infrared light into heat, which is directly absorbed into the skin (as opposed to heating the air), soothing joint stiffness, increasing oxygen flow to the brain, and clearing up nasal congestion and clogged pores.
Ice Igloo Room – Short exposure to cold stimulation improves the body’s anti- oxidant capabilities, helping strengthen the immune system, firming the skin and closing the pores. The cold temperatures also help in reducing cellulite and relieving chronic pain and fatigue.
Chromo Therapy Sauna Room – Specific colors are linked to different organs in the body, affecting emotions, moods, and physiological conditions. When the energy of a particular organ is thrown off by disease, sickness, or distress, exposing the body to its related color wavelengths will restore homeostasis.
Our venture to get to New York was a MISSION (that’s a story for another day…), so after a long journey, Premier57’s Relaxation lounges were PERFECT. They have an infrared zone, meditation room, and sleeping room. You better believe I took an hour and half nap after all the hydrotherapy pools and saunas. I was truly drained, and this was a perfect end to our spa day, especially since we had a night of dinner and drinking to come! The only thing I wish was the chairs in the sleeping room could have been reclined more, because sleeping elevated was hard to get comfortable.
I would HIGHLY recommend coming to Premier57, regardless if you live in the area or not. It makes for such a relaxing day, especially with a group of girlfriends or your spouse! Be on the lookout for promotions on their website, or even day passes on Groupon to get the best prices!
