Aosom – Side Table

Aosom - Side Table

I haven’t made the huge news on my blog, but Josh & I moved into our first home together late July, and ever since then, I’ve been the ultimate House wife AND husband. Who knew that moving out would give me to pep in my step to be crafty, clean, cook a lot, fix things up, etc. Since moving in, with the help of my mom of course (the original house wife/husband lol), we’ve painted all the bedrooms/beauty room, painted the front door, hung a mirror over a fireplace, over seeded the backyard, and more. It kind of makes me tired just thinking of everything we accomplished in about 2 months.

Before anyone comments negatively – I refer to myself as the house wife & husband because I’m doing things that a “traditionally viewed” wife or husband does (thanks society). It’s all in fun & laughter – so it’s more of a joke on my end. So I’m going to roll with it – I see ANY task in a household as a job for a man or woman.. so to make these tasks a bit more enjoyable, I just placed the house wife/husband word onto it as a joke!!

Aosom - Side Table

Original side table

The first project that I was able to do on my own, was setting up this absolutely useful Side Table from Aosom! This is the perfect addition for my living room as it matches all the other furniture, with the black metal stand. It says it takes 2 people to set it up and 1-2 hours, but this took only myself around 20 minutes to put together. The longest part was just reading the instructions haha. I really like how easy it was to put together, and it even came with a little screwdriver which was very helpful.

Side table after changing the table top colour

The only thing that I wasn’t in love with was the wood table top. I felt like it meshed with the floor too much, and I wanted it to still stand out even with matching the furniture. My original plan was to sand it down and apply a grey stain over it to match my side tables and TV stand, but the table top is made out of  MDF board. MDF board is an engineered wood product, so it didn’t have the wood grains or anything, so when I sanded it down, it was a solid beige colour. If I were to stain it, it would’ve been a solid colour & might not have even taken the stain properly. So, on to plan #2, & off to my local dollar store I went to find some contact paper! I wanted a washed out grey style, but the closest I could find was this marble design. Not 100% what I had imagined, but it matches the room much better! I am very pleased overall 🙂

Regardless if I changed the table top, this Side Table from Aosom is a great addition to my house! It’s originally $120 CDN, but it’s on SALE right now for $64.99 CDN! I’ve been using it to eat and watch TV, as well as painting my nails! It is SO much more useful than I imagined it would have been.

I received this product for free, but my review and photos are my own.
