I don’t know about you guys, but I’m noticing more and more beauty brands incorporate CBD or sativa in them. I’ve actually only really noticed it in less mainstream brands, so when I saw that NYX Professional Makeup came out with products with Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil in it, I was intrigued. After some research, I’ve found out that Cannabis Sativa Seed oil contains 0% THC and some trace amounts of CBD. Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil is known not to clog pores, be anti-inflammatory, and provide the most moisture to your skin. It all sounds great, but when mixed into makeup, does it make a difference?
I was generously sent the following products for my review, so let’s take a look:
NYX Professional Makeup – Bare With Me Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil – Radiant Perfecting Primer ($20.00 CDN) is a shimmering bronze face primer, infused with sativa seed oil and centella asiatica extract. It’s used to prep your skin for makeup application while blurring imperfections at the same time.
At first, I was thrown off because of the bronze colour and I was afraid it would make me look darker and my foundation wouldn’t match. As soon as I applied it to my face and rubbed it in, there was little to no colour difference in my skin. There was a very subtle amount of shimmer, but not enough to notice under makeup. My makeup applies beautifully over it, and it really does last all day! I did notice that my skin was GLOWING throughout the day, even with wearing foundation, concealer, blush, and powder over it – so I’m not sure if it just sucks everything up or if my skin gets oily throughout the day, but looking up close, I don’t think it is oily, so I can’t tell yet what’s going on.
NYX Professional Makeup – Bare With Me Cannabis Sativa Seed Lip Conditioner ($9.00 CDN) is a lightweight lip conditioner designed to hydrate and soothe your lips. I was the most surprised by this product because I really liked it! I thought it was going to be super oily or really sticky, but it’s just the right consistency. It’s thick enough to stay on your lips for a long time, but not sticky at all. It actually makes my lips soft and the cannabis seed oil doesn’t make it taste gross.
NYX Professional Makeup – Bare With Me Cannabis Sativa Seed Brow Setter ($10.00 CDN) is a conditioning brow setter that dries to a clear finish. I have never purchased brow setters as I don’t find my brows to be unruly naturally. I was excited to receive this product though because NYX Professional Makeup is a great brand I wanted to see what the hype was all about with cannabis seed oil. The brush is tiny, and it doesn’t seem like a lot of product comes out. I’ve seen some reviews that say that’s an issue, but I personally think it’s okay. You don’t want a lot of product to come out at once because then your brows will be just covered in the product and brushing it out will only make it worse. As much as the product seems to be good, I don’t personally need it or see myself purchasing it. I’m also not sure why this type of product needs the addition of cannabis seed oil..
