A Tiny ELF Haul

by Maddy (spilledpolish)

It’s been a while since I last bought from ELF. I was shocked because for the first time, I had to pay customs on my package! They always have a warning on checkout that Canadians would get charged, but this is the first time it’s actually happened. Kind of a bummer 🙁

I’ve always loved their Powder Brush, so that was my main reason for putting in an order. I also bought a ton of other brushes, and most of them I got 2 of each. This way I won’t have to buy so often and can avoid getting charged customs – ugh…  I also picked up some of their blending wedges because I like the quality of them for nail art! They’re great at creating gradients. I did use them for makeup back in the day, but now I stick to my BeautyBlender.

I’m not a huge fan of their makeup, but I did want to try out their Sheer Tint Finishing Powder. I bought two shades (Fair/Light and Light/Medium) because I wasn’t sure which would match my skin tone. The Fair/Light shade is way too light for me, which I’m surprised about because I haven’t tanned in a couple of months. So I’m not as pale as I thought 🙂 The only downside is the Light/Medium shade is a tad too dark… so I’ll have to get a bit of a tan before I can use it.

Lately I’ve really been into filling my brows. I noticed ELF had a cream liner and I’ve always wanted to try one out since I regularly use a pencil. I purchased their Lock on Liner & Brow Cream in Taupe Blonde, which I’m surprised to say is a great match to my eyebrows. Other brands are usually a miss for me because they are either too dark or, for some reason, have an orange/red tint to them. The consistency is creamy and applies nicely with an angled eyeliner brush. I’m not sure if it’s my application or the product itself, but I do find it applies heavily but is easily thinned out after I brush my eyebrows out. The finished look is flawless and definitely a keeper in my collection.

How much did they charge you?

A little over $20 CDN. Which isn’t the end of the world, but it’s an annoying charge on top of the shipping + conversion rates from USD to CDN. I probably could’ve bought brushes elsewhere for the same price.
