I’ll be honest with you guys, I am not a camping kind of girl. But once I heard about glamping and did some research, I knew it’d be a fun experience! Think of glamping as a mix of camping and your traditional hotel visit. You get to experience the outdoors and get the camping vibe (yes, bugs included!), but you get to enjoy it in style with actual beds. If you’re looking for a glamping getaway, I highly suggest you check out Long Point Eco-Adventures! It’s about 2 hours away from Toronto, and makes for a perfect weekend getaway. Norfolk County Tourism graciously hooked my boyfriend & I up for two nights at Long Point Eco-Adventures to experience a glamping getaway of our own!

Things to do in Norfolk County: Glamping at Long Point Eco-Adventures

Long Point Eco-Adventures is located in Norfolk County, Ontario (along the North shore of Lake Erie) and has 3 different types of glamping pods for everyone to enjoy – the Camping Pod, the Wilderness Pod, and the Wilderness Suite. Their Camping Pods are the most rustic accommodations and are a next step up from regular camping. You get your own little pod with hardwood flooring, a sliding glass door, and a bed. Shared outhouses right nearby, so you don’t have to venture off far, especially in the middle of the night. Definitely way better than sleeping in a tent on the ground!

If you’re looking for a bit more amenities, their Wilderness Pods include the same things, but with the addition of your own personal bathroom and electricity (you’ll definitely want electricity to power up your cellphones after staying here and experiencing all the activities). Now, if you’re new to the world of glamping, I’d actually recommend staying in one of their Wilderness Suites. These suites include everything the other two pods do, but with bigger beds, a bigger bathroom, an outdoor shower, and a mini fridge.

I got the opportunity to stay in the Wilderness Suites for the 2 nights that we stayed at Long Point Eco-Adventures. Even with all the mosquitos and spiders outside, our stay was great! The suite we stayed in was a dream – the beds were so comfortable and having our own bathroom was the icing on the cake. The thought of having to go to an outhouse in the middle of the night just terrifies me, so I’m all for the pods with their own washrooms!

Breakfast was also included with our stay, as it is with every overnight stay no matter which pod you stay in. They have your traditional american buffet available with scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, toast, yogurt, coffee and juices. Not only were our accommodations great, the staff at Long Point Eco-Adventures made our stay much easier. Staff are available 24/7, and are all super friendly and helpful – even when we showed up at 9:00pm on a Sunday night and needed help checking in and finding our suite. We went to the main lobby a couple times throughout our stay and always encountered the friendliest people. I know they’re just doing their job, but I got a nice, genuine feeling from everyone!

NOTE: I tried to take a video of everything I could, but I had some issues with a new memory card that I had purchased, so some of my videos got messed up. Thankfully, I took some on my phone for Instagram.. but it doesn’t mesh well with my camera videos. So in my video you’ll just see a difference in the video layout and quality. Sorry!

To get away from the city, unwind and listen to the sounds of nature, and see the stars so clearly at night was amazing. I feel like we all need to step away from our comfort zone, and enjoy the real world for what it has to offer.
