Toronto Catering Showcase

This past weekend I went to the most magical place a foodie can go – The Toronto Catering Showcase! It’s an annual event hosted at The Globe and Mail Centre, downtown Toronto. With 12 of Toronto’s most celebrated caterers, you’re sure to find the perfect one for all your events. The Toronto Catering Showcase is a helpful tool in finding the perfect caterer for your events (weddings, showers, corporate events, or just hosting a dinner for friends). EventSource.ca created the annual event to celebrate Toronto’s top caterers and have guests experience their delectable treats!

I’ve heard so many great things from friends about the event, so I knew I had to go this year. One of my friends actually found her caterer for her wedding at the event last year. At the start of my engagement, I wasn’t sure where my wedding venue would be, or even bridal shower for that matter. I knew there might be a chance of needing a caterer, so I just had to go to The Toronto Catering Showcase to get ideas. Even if I don’t book one for my wedding events, I do a lot of catering for events at work – so my experience here won’t go to waste! Even if it’s just to have enjoyed the food, it was well worth it!

Right from the start, the event feels like luxury! There was complimentary valet service from Adagio Valet, and staff conveniently located throughout the Globe and Mail Centre to help you navigate to the event. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The venue itself is just gorgeous and makes for some STUNNING views of Toronto. It’s easy to see why so many people & companies hold events here. It makes for the perfect backdrop for weddings too.

When I walked into the actual event, there was so much buzz going around on the food that I couldn’t wait to try something, and quick! I strategically went around the whole event in order of booths so I didn’t miss out on anything. The only time I skipped a booth was if they were handing out desserts.. but I, of course, came back after to finish off the day.

I really enjoyed myself at the event. I tried new foods that I wouldn’t normally eat (beef carpaccio, lamb sausage, sunchoke agnolotti), and stuffed myself with foods that I knew I liked (gelato, brigadeiros, whipped ricotta bowls, porchetta). I’m normally more of a simple eater, so it was really nice to go to an event like this and eat foods that I would never make myself. There were even vendors there that could be set up at your events – like a high bar. And yes, it’s exactly what you think it is! .. and no they didn’t give out samples, just empty rolls haha.

It’s true what they say – food brings everyone together. I found myself constantly trying foods, then looking at the person next to me and both nodding in agreement that the food was good. You could not be upset or mad at this type of event, even if you wanted to. The food and ambiance was just TOO good!

If you want to get the full details on all the caterers and companies who had a hand in the event, head over to EventSource.ca! Be sure to keep an eye out for next years Toronto Catering Showcase ($75 CDN), and start dieting from now.. because I went into a food coma afterwards haha.
