ROCK N’ DOLL
Last night I attended Essence Cosmetic’s Rock ‘n’ Doll Spring/Summer 2017 Collection launch event that was held by Faulhaber Communications. I was graciously invited as part of the Canadian Beauty Bloggers network. The event was held in Toronto inside a Rock & Roll gallery, which was quite small, but perfect for this type of event and for the number of people invited.
I met up with Elena (from NailExperiments) about 20 minutes before the event started and started taking pictures of the Essence signs. One of the girls that were running the event actually came out and invited us in early to check-in and get check everything out first.
First things first – I got my nails done from a nail tech from Tips Nail Bar using Essence’s The Gel Nail Polish (in 75 Perfect Match), Base, & Top Coat. The two ladies working were very nice and did a great job on my nails. I did find the Gel Nail Polish to be a bit on the thin and streaky side (even with a base & top coat), but I can manage to live with it for a day or two before having to change it haha. They also had a station to get your makeup done, but I had come to the event straight from a full work day so I already had my makeup done. I’m not sure if anyone actually got theirs done or not since it was on the 2nd floor of the building, and I assume people would normally come to these types of events with their makeup already done.
After getting my nails done, I went downstairs to check out the new products that Essence was releasing for the Spring/Summer. They have some great new palettes, mascara’s and eyeliners. The one item that stuck out the most to me was their Rock n Doll Duo Stylist Eyeliner Pen; it has a ball tip that helps create a flawless wing or some fun dots! I saw one of the girls working with some dots under her bottom lash line and it looked pretty neat. It’s probably not for everyday wear, but definitely for a night out.
Essence is also releasing a ton of other new products – lipsticks, blushes, eyebrow gels and pencils, polishes, concealer palettes, contour palettes and more. I was mostly excited for their mascara’s and eyebrow pencils because I use those on a daily basis. The whole collection is very affordable and available ONLINE or in store at Shopper’s Drugmart.

Can’t wait to try out that new eyeliner pen!
I actually found it quite difficult to use. Unfortunately, it’s only good to create dots. You cannot wing out your liner, but you can use it as a normal liner (but it will be a thick line).
